hi I saw you made a tutorial for your amethyst whip but can you also give a tutorial on how you painted your skin? its such a solid color!
sorry to say, the best way to get a colour that solid is image editing later (my pal sweetiron.tumblr.com took and edited the photos you saw in that tutorial haha)
what i looked like on the day was more like this http://caninequeen.tumblr.com/post/128465590081/amethyst-today i didnt paint my hands because i dont like scaring artists at cons when i touch their art.
i think i managed to still get a fairly solid colour, if i went overboard it would have cracked and been much less smooth- i used a paint called tag http://www.crackerjackcostume.com.au/Tag-Purple-32g-scp48129.html which was a shade lighter than this- it was water activated, and i used a sponge to pat the colour on
im really sorry but its a bit hard for me to explain how i did it, in the ol days i was a homestuck cosplayer, so i honestly have a lot of experience with face painting to work off, its pretty easy for me and i dont think about it much, but ill try and provide pointers!
- do not overdo the paint (danger of cracking but can depend on what you use), try and get as even a colour as you can
- try to do a layer all at once and then a whole other layer if you want more colour, this way it looks less patchy and more smooth
- look up tutorials online if you can, they will give you a visual idea of how to put on the paint, i learn from visual way more myself so
- SEAL YOUR PAINT. SEAL IT IF YOU WANT TO HUG PEOPLE AND TOUCH ART AT CON TABLES, DONT RUIN PEOPLES WORK and it will be good for you because you dont want your clothes to have marks on them from your arms and hands
good luck! sorry if this isnt much help but if you have any specifc questions ill try and answer them <3
