You probably couldn’t win a shootout at the Olympics either but you’re not beating yourself up about that
BUT I AM. Hilariously enough, my second most frequent anxiety dream I have is that I’m at the Olympics for an event I am clearly not qualified to be there for, and no one listens to me as I try to explain to them why I shouldn't be there, and the whole dream revolves around my anxious knowledge that I’m going to make a fool of myself and FAIL AMERICA and doom us to 8th place or whatever. This happens a lot. And every single time, it’s a new sport. My anxiety dreams have plunked me into the Olympics for (including, but not limited to) rhythmic gymnastics, swimming, running, diving, and hockey. In the hockey one, I distinctly remember thinking, “well, I can’t skate backwards, we’re boned.”
So, yeah, my psyche is in fact constantly beating itself up over the fact I could not TJ Oshie myself into a shootout win for the Olympics.
Also my first most common anxiety dream is that I have forgotten how to drive. Brains are weird.
