I FINALLY GOT AROUND TO WATCHING MORE OF THE OTHER BENNET SISTER
beyond the generational power of fanfiction, I had a moment of grand enlightenment in the fourth(? fifth?) episode (spoilers kinda)
Tom was standing up with wisteria behind him, reciting poetry, and (according to my mother) I shrieked and ran to the other room for my phone saying smth completely incoherent
anyways did y'all know he's acted by Dónal Finn?
Raffy is pliant and soft with Jack and maybe it's the reason Jack doesn't want him at all. He wants to be fought and defeated. He wants Dean to make him give in. He wants to be a victim of seduction. Or he wants to feel in control and to make Dean earn him. Or to punish him for misbehaving. And Dean knows it and he knows how to play along and then Jack in the mood for which. Jack wants it to be torture in one way or another and he always gives him torture.
The funniest thing though is that Raffy is actually very capable of all of that too. But he doesn't know what Jack wants. So he gives him pliant and soft. And it doesn't do anything for Jack.
I headcannon that Dan looks up to Hellen because shes basically like one of those hardcore murderous video game protagonists (ex; doomguy, Hank from madness combat... etc).
“I wanted to see the world in color. Through your eyes and through your mind” Is so Johnny to Ponyboy
maybe unpopular opinion and I only have an opinion because i've seen a lot of fanon interpretations of what mav would have been like as a father/primary caregiver to bradley because like it's constantly in my icemav...but I don't think mav would have been an extremely permissive parent. i don't know how to put it but i see a lot of fics where mav is portrayed as a very soft, pushover sort of parent and nothing about how mav interacts with bradley in tgm, especially the training sequences, makes me think it would be true. plus he says he was trying to be the father bradley lost and I think he would take that responsibility very seriously. I'm sure he would be a fun and chill parent. but one a kid would know not to push their luck with
For the record, Crosby’s kids gave them creative liberty to decide whether he actually cheated or not. The four kids were split, two said he had to have and two said he didn’t. And I’m pretty sure he only met up with her a couple of times in reality.
idk if this is functional as a critique as opposed to like. just being my personal preference but something I’m kind of bemused by is the choice to not really utilise the mini antagonists (Johanna, Dragon King, Primeval Repressed Grief and Rage etc) to also tell us more about our primary antagonists who notably aren’t really interested in speaking to us and who have a surprising lack of codex entires abt the kind of sociopolitical culture they existed in and were thus influenced by, and therefore the lens through which they see the current world and its people
