heather was sitting down at the table with one leg crossed over the other as she scanned through the crowd of her peers. one in particular caught her eye who was nearby her now. she straightened up her posture now with suspecting eyes. “moreno.” she calls out to get her attention. “question. i was wondering if you had gotten a letter recently?”

“No no–it’s alright, come here.”

there was a visible hesitation as esme lingered in the doorway, still fully prepared to make her exit. “seriously, i can find somewhere else,” she offered, gesturing loosely to the box of food she was holding. “i don’t make it a point to induce vomiting from anyone and i can’t really make this not smell like a lot of conflicting spices.”

“cross that. don’t answer that.”

“What, why not?” Danny asked back, taking a bit from his slice of pizza. Usually he didn’t mind helping her figure things out when it came to her pregnancy. He liked being her sounding board, filtering out all the ‘questionable ideas’ and trying to offer his help where he could. “I’m just saying, your mom is a whole ass doctor, maybe it’d be better if she came to one of these birthing type classes with you too? I know she’s smart and went through it before, but she doesn’t know you’ve got vice grip tiny hands. Let her know what she’s in for pain wise. Just saying.”
