- Last Night -

Dear Diary,

This is it! My dramatic moment is less than 12 hours away! I think it’ll be made even more dramatic by the early hour, though that wasn’t really intentional- the cheapest train tickets I could find were for 7 in the morning.  Next stop, San Myshuno. It wasn’t my first choice, but I have to admit, it makes the most sense- Delia’s brother and his girlfriend are letting us stay with them until we get back on our feet, and there’s a fantastic college nearby that I’m transferring to.

Maybe it’s naive of me, but I have a feeling that everything is going to go according to plan- tomorrow morning, and everything after that. Though, to be fair, it’s a pretty low bar- what could be worse than enduring 18 years of Mother and Dad breathing down my neck?

I still don’t know how I’m going to break it to Adelaide. Immanuel won’t care- he’ll just get angry at me for “going against the Lord’s wishes,” and ruin my plans- so I’ll let Mother and Dad break the news to him once I’m long gone. He’ll be happy to accept their explanation of “Satan is attacking our good Christian family.” Auggie and AJ are still little, and care more about their toys than anything in the grown-up world. But Addie was my first “real” buddy. I taught her everything. Sometimes I feel like more of a mother than my own mother! She’s nine, and I don’t want her to feel like I’ve abandoned her. I don’t want Mother and Dad to make her hate me.

I think that would break my heart.

Friends, please PRAY for my family and my daughter, Imogen. Since her 18th birthday, she has become increasingly resistant and SNAPPISH. Just this morning, we caught her trying to use the computer unsupervised while we were asleep!! Thankfully, Axel had gotten up early that morning (to go for a run!! 😂😉), saw her, and immediately alerted us. This unexpected disobedience is a TRIAL, but we are holding steady to our faith in the Lord- He is our RAFT that we hang onto while navigating the stormy seas of a heart CAPTURED by the DEVIL!!!!

Happy BIRTHDAY to our most precious Imogen!!! I can’t believe she’s 18. It feels like just yesterday that she was born...then cooked her first dinner for us...then took on her first buddy...then became a teenager...ETC!! :,)

To celebrate, we invited Peter and Delia for a LOVELY dinner at home- Immy INSISTED on cooking an elaborate meal, and who was I to deny her on her BIRTHDAY??? I don’t think Delia liked Peter very much...remind me to chat with Immy about helping her friend have a better countenance...LOL!! 😂

Peter Korhonen has the face of a rat, and talks like one too. Ask him anything, and he’ll turn the conversation around to the sinful nature of the young women at Oasis Springs Baptist. UGH! If I have to “get to know” someone, I'd rather it be a guy who doesn’t keep me updated on all the latest OSBC gossip (and WCBC gossip as well, now that he’s found his footing in Willow Creek). He’s as much of a rumormonger as all the old Ladies’ Aid biddies put together! 

Due to the handful of (torturous) hours we’ve spent together, I know that Anna Rogers has been flirting with Thomas O’Connor from St. Mary’s for three years running (He’s Catholic! Gasp... the horror!), Kiana Rodriguez gets sinful magazines from her harlot sister Rosalie, Carlie and Catie Busby might go to a secular university and maybe even get jobs of their own... and more. I haven’t prayed since I was ten years old, but now’s when I really need it, I think. It’s just “Please, God, get him away from me!” Hopefully that’ll get the message across?  

(If Mother could read my thoughts- or my journal-, she’d probably have not one, but three heart attacks! She’s already all over me for my “sour and terribly unladylike countenance.” It's not very nice, but I’ve often thought that some serious, takes-very-long-to-recover-from medical emergency might give us all a break from Mother’s incessant and annoying...well, existence.)

Also, Peter’s 23- gross! I’m not even 18 yet.
