Shop has had a little revamp, still over at impishnature.tictail.com.
There’s a button at the top of my blog to take you there as well.
My two books can be bought in pdf format over there as well as commissioning. You can still buy them from me here but a friend mentioned that people might be more comfortable with a shop format than just through tumblr.
More info on commissions under the cut.
What I’ll write -
You can see from my masterpost what I’m comfortable writing but I’m fairly happy to go out of my comfort zone and try out new things, after all this is all added practice for me. Therefore if you have an idea for a commission that you aren’t sure I would do, please come and chat to me and we’ll see if we can make it happen ♥
Fandoms - At the moment I’m primarily in the Gravity Falls fandom but feel free to ask me about others and whether I’d write anything in them. (Steven Universe, Adventure Time, Voltron, Star Trek etc)
Shipping - I don’t normally write ships but again I am happy to try. If there are any ships I’m uncomfortable about I will let you know or possibly send the finished commission over to you privately via email instead of posting it on my blog.
NSFW - Never written anything on this front so again it will have to be up for discussion and I will probably send it to you privately.
Pricing -
Pricing. I took forever coming up with the pricing for this because the range online is extraordinary for written commissions. So I decided to scrap all that and work off of this basis.
It takes me an hour to write 1000 words - give or take and counting in a bit of time for editing and planning.
An hour minimum wage here is £7.20 so in case paypal takes a cut I’ve put prices at £8.00 per 1000 words.
For now my slots are -
500-1500 word commission - £8.00 ($10.00) (5 Slots)
3000-5000 word commission - £25.00 ($31.00) (3 slots)
Or a special deal version
3 x 500-1500 word one shots or a 3 chaptered fic for £20.00 ($25.00) (3 slots)
These can all be found over at the shop.
Prices may change later on as I do more of these and figure just how long they take. But for now I would quite like to make minimum wage, you know?
Considering the £ at the moment, I may have to check with commissions on the exchange rate as it’s decreased heavily since I first started doing them. (Tips are always welcome ♥)
How it all works -
Come chat to me about what you’d like over at impishnature.tumblr.com or email me at [email protected].
Once everything is agreed then I will write up the piece and let you know when it’s finished.
Once it is, I’ll send over half to make sure you’re happy with the piece at that point. Then I’ll require payment before the other half is sent over.
My Terms -
I reserve the right to refuse commissions. There are some things I may be uncomfortable with writing but I’m willing to discuss anything first (there may be an extra charge if I do accept an idea I’m not entirely comfortable writing but again this would be discussed).
By default I’ll be posting them to my tumblr unless you state otherwise, I will ask if you would mind it being posted on AO3. I will also send it over as a pdf.
You can stay anonymous if you would request.
Works should not be reposted unless my name and blog link is included. I’d much rather they weren’t reposted at all but if they have to be then these must be included with the work.
Ok I thought I’d give some time after the Trail of Cards preview for my other one. This ones a short story/novella I wrote years ago and I was really proud of it at the time so I thought out of any story after Trail of Cards it was this one that I was going to redo and tidy up ^.^ It’s very different and goes into an idea I had about parallel worlds/what’s on the other side of the mirror.
Shout out to my lovely @cirilee for being OK with me asking what part she thought would be best for a preview! (And for that fanart that still makes me go all gooey and flaily every time I think about it homg ;.; you’re too nice why you do this to me)
Chapter 1: Perspectives
When you look through a mirror, what do you really see? Is it just an image? Just a reflection? Or could there be something more?
What if the person staring back from inside the mirror is you but at the same time isn’t completely the same? A you in an alternate reality where life happened just that little bit differently? Not enough to really notice. A small shift here and there. Things you wouldn’t expect to change the future.
How altered could the world be?
How altered could you be?
A young girl smiled at herself in the full length mirror as she got ready for work, her face and mind optimistic for the day ahead. A soft hum permeated the air as she worked, her half asleep brain working quietly away at the thoughts of the day, wondering who she might meet or what she might do. As small town and ordinary as her life was she had yet to say she was really unhappy with it. In her eyes it was comfortable; working behind the register at the local convenience store was an easy was to get money into her pocket and she always had fun chatting to the customers, especially those she had gotten used to. Sure there were bad days, everyone had them, but it was always better to start the day as you meant to go on in her opinion.
She looked at her watch a few moments later, wincing slightly at the time with a muttered curse. It was her turn to open the shop today and it wouldn’t do to be late, not that anyone would know about it unless there was a complaint from a customer.
She checked around her room to make sure she hadn’t forgotten anything she needed to take with her; counting through the items she had laid out ready for the day the night before, before disappearing from the mirror’s view of her small single bedroom.
She smiled as she took one last look around; convinced she hadn’t left anything behind before checking her watch again and hurrying out of the door without another glance.
When looking into a mirror, there can sometimes be the nagging need to smile. Maybe it’s just a conscious effort to get ready for the day ahead, especially if you know it’s going to be a particularly trying one. But what if that’s not the only reason? Why is it we smile as if we should be on best behaviour when staring at our own reflections?
What if that’s actually your subconscious knowing that there isn’t just you when you stare into the mirror?
The same girl groaned as she floundered in her bed, growling at the incessant beeping of her alarm before managing to turn it off, almost knocking the clock off its rest in her frustrated attempts to shut it up. Her hand raked through her hair as she stood up, shaking her head in an attempt to wake up quicker, knowing there was little time for a coffee before she made it in to work.
She sighed as she got herself ready for another pointless day at work where nothing interesting ever happened. She wondered what she was doing with her life, working a tedious job at the same dreary convenience store she had worked at since she’d left school. Wondered when she’d get to stop seeing the same people every day and stop having to smile politely and pretend that she was interested in what they had to say and what they were doing with their lives. The pay wasn’t even that good and yet here she was, still getting up every day to go to the same dead-end job because there was nothing else for her to do. Because that’s what people did after all; they got up, they went about their lives doing jobs they didn’t like to get by; it was the way of the world. She knew what people would say if she complained. That at least she had a job. That at least she wasn’t stuck in that loop of job-hunts and interviews and rejection letters that many others her age were in at that very moment.
She stood herself in front of her mirror once she was dressed in her uniform, making sure she looked as respectful and put-together as everyone expected her to be once she was at work. If they knew what she really thought maybe they’d think differently of her. But then again, we’re all only human. We all want something more than what we have.
She smiled at her reflection, using the same fake smile she used for her customers in an attempt to steel herself for what was to come before she stepped away from the mirror, sighing as she checked around her room one last time. She glared at nothing in particular, annoyed that as per usual she was being made to open up the store alone because her manager couldn’t be bothered to make the effort.
She walked out of the room at a slow measured pace, not at all concerned about whether she would be late or not. No-one would know anyway.
.
It was a fun idea and that’s just a taster. Both ‘mirror worlds’ get progressively more different the more the story goes on though the image as it were stays the same. It’s kind of a slice of life, kind of a ‘what would have happened in your life if ‘x’ had happened earlier on’. Except it doesn’t only count for you it counts for everyone around you too. ^.^
Both MirrorLand and Trail of Cards can be found at my shop here.
Hey guys, below the cut is the prologue/short preview of my self-published novel Trail of Cards. Just thought that a preview might interest some people ♥
.
Prologue: Betrayal
A police car pulled up to a darkened alleyway that was already littered with constables and civilians alike, flitting round like flies, trying to get a closer look at the morbid scene hidden in the semi-gloom. Yellow tape cordoned off the inner alleyway from both sides, preserving the scene for the three figures that got out of the car, doors slamming to make their presence known. It took only a few sharp words and a flash of the commanding officer’s badge, for the tape to be raised and all three to slip into the crime scene, gloves going on in practised motions.
“What do we have here then?” One of the men stood back from the corpse, scanning the scene as a whole with an eyebrow raised. “A drug trade gone bad? A spur of the moment stabbing?”
“What? Wrong place wrong time kind of deal?”
The woman ignored the pair as they started to try and theorise the different things that could have happened, instead focussing on the body in front of her, crouching down to take a closer look. She frowned at something sitting just barely visible, under the man’s jacket on his stomach. She grabbed a pen from her pocket, moving the offending piece of material out of the way. The pair paused in their conversation as she froze up entirely, a familiar playing card falling out of the jacket onto the floor with the movement. It took some willpower on her part to pick it up, the others behind her silent and waiting for her verdict. When none came, one of them finally spoke up.
“What do we do now, chief?”
The woman sighed, still crouched on the floor so that nobody could see her face, flipping the playing card over and over in her gloved hands. It had become apparent that there were only a few who could be trusted on the force, and even those, she had trouble believing in, since this whole ordeal had started. “I don’t know anymore.”
“Don’t let anyone else hear you say that.”
“I know.” She snapped, the tap on her back reminding her that she was the leading officer. She stood back up, straight backed and tense, her gaze angry and sharp, ignoring the approving nod he sent her. “We catch the bastard, that’s what we do.” The other guy with them gave a sharp intake of breath, finally turning his attention back to them, having been dutifully ignoring the display, and pretending instead to check that no one was paying them too much attention. “You shouldn’t-”
“Shouldn’t what? Call him that? He made his choice when he left the force and became a vigilante. We can’t just let him continue like this.” She let the card drop from her fingers, not caring where it landed. They had enough of the mocking cards to know who they were after; it was catching him and figuring out why he did it that was proving difficult.
The card fell, landing face up on the floor, the mocking message staring up at them before they took their leave from the crime scene without a second glance.

Better luck next time, King.

Book can be found at my tictail store ♥ I hope you liked the preview. The prologue is very short against the rest of the book, I might put another preview up at some point from further in.

So I thought a masterpost would be the best option to showcase what I worked on originally. It’s nice to see some people in anyway interested because last night was me plucking up the courage to promote them again after ages of letting them just hide at the back of my blog. (I almost cried, thank you! Being tired and having that kind of encouragement...♥)
Trail of Cards
Are you ready to play the game?
Shay, a private detective is pulled swiftly into a dwindling police force in a city with an alarmingly ever growing crime rate. A city where people are more likely to trust a gang on the streets for protection than those designed to protect them. But how can he help them deal with cases when there’s suspicion and doubt over his skills? When there’s an obvious mistrust for getting outsiders involved in their work?
Meanwhile, a vigilante is playing games with the team, making it obvious that he can do their job better than they can with mocking messages left at every criminal he gets to first. But who is this shadowed figure that is running rings around them? And why can’t Shay seem to get anything other than cryptic messages when he tries to find out?
Following the trail of cards left behind may not lead to the answers that were expected…
Better luck next time.
Ebook here or here (£2.99)
Paperback here (£7.50...unfortunately it costs quite a bit to make them, sorry)
Mirrorland
When you look through a mirror, what do you really see? Is it just an image, just a reflection or could there be something more?
Even the smallest detail can change the course of the future for the better or worse. In a parallel world maybe something was done just that bit differently.
When Kay meets a handsome stranger she doesn’t expect her life to change so drastically. She most definitely doesn’t think she’d get wrapped up in things much bigger than herself.’
Two stories. Two lives. Be careful what you wish for.
Ebook here or here (£0.99 or $0.99)
Paperback here (£3.99...again, it costs, sorry)
.
Edit: You can also buy these at my tictail store now as well as commission me!
It’d actually help me a lot if you bought them directly from me instead of amazon but they will be pdfs and not actual ebooks (until I figure out how to format them).
