1.06" Green Moldavite Tektite (2.3 g) - Czech Republic
Libyan desert glass (c. 800,000 years old)
Also known as impact glass, this lump of sand-polished silicate was formed when a meteorite impacted the Sahara with such force that liquefied terrestrial particles were blasted into the atmosphere, after which they fell to Earth as glass.
Libyan desert glass was used to make tools during the Late Pleistocene epoch and was used as jewellery in the Pharaonic Period, with examples discovered in Tutankhamun's tomb.

When Heaven and Earth Collide
The near-spherical form is a result of surface tension causing the silicate melt to minimize its shape, this dark natural glass is accented with archetypal contraction grooves and a finely dappled surface. 21⁄4 x 21⁄4 x 21⁄8in. (5.7 x 5.5 x 5.3cm.). 187g.

More than two decades ago, a geologist traveled to Argentina to hunt for hidden craters. What he uncovered could change how we look for extraterrestrial life.
Meteorite impacts can wipe out life in less than a second. But Peter and Marcelo realized that the resulting impact glass can actually preserve life, like a time capsule. Besides grass, Peter thinks this glass could trap atmospheric gases, soil, and other living material from bygone eras.

Hurricane Proof Windows: 7 Upgrades for 2026 Homes
HURRICANE PROOF WINDOWS FOR 2026 HOMES Hurricane proof windows are not just about stronger glass. They are about the full system working together: glass, frame, hardware, sealants, and installation. THE 7 UPGRADES THAT MATTER MOST - Laminated impact glass to help stop wind-borne debris. - Reinforced window frames that resist flexing under pressure. - Corrosion-resistant hardware for salt air and humidity. - Florida code-compliant products sized for local wind loads. - Better flashing and sealants to reduce water intrusion. - Improved anchoring and fasteners for long-term stability. - Professional installation checks to catch hidden rot or damage. For coastal homes, the details matter as much as the product label. A window that looks strong can still fail if the frame is weak or the opening is not prepared correctly. That is why impact resistant windows should be selected as part of a full exterior upgrade, not a simple swap. If your home is near the water or has older openings, start with the most exposed windows first. That approach often gives the biggest safety and comfort benefit. It can also improve noise control, UV protection, and everyday security. The bottom line: the best hurricane window upgrade is the one that is tested, code compliant, and installed with care.
