This is known as “The Meteor.”
It is one of the most haunting objects recovered from the World Trade Center after 9/11.
At first glance, it looks like a giant twisted rock.
But it is not a rock.
It is a fused mass of debris from the towers, believed to contain roughly 4 to 5 floors compressed together by the force of the collapse.
Inside it are crushed layers of steel, concrete, floor trusses, wiring, and office material, all packed into one solid mass.
Recovery workers nicknamed it “The Meteor” because it looked like something that had fallen from space.
But what makes it so powerful is what it really represents.
Entire floors of a skyscraper.
Compressed into one object.
The Meteor is now displayed at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum as a reminder of the unimaginable force of the collapse, and the lives, offices, and stories that were crushed in seconds. #fblifestyle
