[ch20] A vow to uphold
[...]
"I wondered… It is your birthday, after all. I– I wanted to give you one more gift."
"You do not need to," Victor speaks softly as Yuuri steps closer to him. "You have already given me the most precious gift before. Besides, I already have all I could want in life."
"Do you?"
Leaving his hand pressed to Victor's heart, Yuuri raises the other to cup Victor's cheek. His heart pounds in his chest so hard, that he feels it even in the fingertips that rest on Victor's warm skin.
"Do you really?"
Gently, he slides his hand to the back of Victor's head. He pulls him close, close enough to taste Victor's gasp of surprise on his own lips.
"Yuuri, you–"
"Happy birthday, Vitya."
His heart beats wildly, but Yuuri's soul is at peace when he joins their lips together for the first time in months. For months he denied both of them this closeness, this expression of absolute love and devotion. For months they both suffered the pain that was neither of their faults.
But no more.
Victor's mouth parts under Yuuri's and a sound escapes him: one of surprise and want and longing so raw that Yuuri's heart trembles as it echoes the same loneliness inside him. But then Victor wraps his arms around Yuuri, pulls him close and deepens the kiss, and gods above and beyond, it feels like Magic herself has ignited their touch, for never before has Yuuri loved something and someone more than he does this in that moment.
So, without guilt, without thinking of the past or the future, Yuuri allows himself to feel. He allows himself to be. And he kisses Victor again, for there is nothing in the world he would like to do more.
the incredible @impatvish once again blessed us with her stunning art, this time a scene from the end of chapter 20 where victor and yuuri finally, at long last, share a kiss! please give pat your love! ❤️❤️

“I think I’ve found the opportune time, where kissing you will make it better, da?” Victor murmured.
Yuuri peered up at the Russian, timid and careful. Was this a play on the time he had broken down in front of him at the Cup of China? But Yuuri was tired of thinking, he was tired of wondering what was a joke and what was serious. Right now, he needed to be serious, he needed to listen to what he was feeling, and he was going to act on it. Without another beat wasted, Yuuri leaned up and captured his lips in his. He kept his eyes closed, afraid of what he would find if he reopened them, but Victor’s mouth relaxed against his, returning the gesture tenfold.
Soft, pure, and loved.
As they pulled away, Victor rested his forehead against his, slivers of silver hair tickling his cheek. He wiped away Yuuri’s residual tears tenderly, “I never want you to doubt me again.” Victor murmured. “I never want you to feel like it hasn’t always been you, Yuuri. Because it has.”
Yuuri shifted slightly, his heart pounding hard against his chest. It’s not that he doubted Victor, but he doubted himself. How could he be lucky enough to ever have the chance to be with this God among earth? The pedestal he had set Victor on was so high and was still pretty much up there, and he was learning everyday to try to lower it, but he couldn’t help himself in feeling his inadequacies and he wanted to slap himself for making them come up to the surface but he didn’t feel weak when he knew Victor was the one seeing them. He felt seen.
Victor’s hands trailed up to cup his face, holding it like it was the most precious item in the world, when in truth for him, that’s exactly what it was. “After everything we’ve been through together, how could it not be you?”
I got my commission from my darling @impatvish!

Each and every one of these kisses meant the world to Yuuri. They built him from the ground up, they shaped his whole being.
They made him as he is today.
The vow in the Butterfly Tower - A vow to uphold [ch15]
"I vow," they start together.
"To never again hide anything from you," Victor says.
"To never again pretend that everything is alright when it isn't," Yuuri goes on.
"To never again lie to you, no matter how horrible the truth is."
"To never again be anything but honest with you, even if honesty will hurt you."
"To never again put you in danger."
"To never again protect you at a cost to myself."
Victor's lips press a bit unhappily at that, but he does not break their vow. They look each other in the eyes, and then like one, they say: "This, I vow. Gods be my witnesses."
this most gorgeous art I commissioned for a scene from chapter 15 of my victuuri epic - A vow to uphold - and the artist, the incredibly talented @impatvish, as always exceeded my expectations 😍🙏😍❤️😍 🙏 😍❤️❤️🙏
