Featuring an exclusive interview with Viktor Krum in which he addresses divorce rumours, discusses a potential return to Quidditch and more!
There have been a lot of rumours around your marriage and obviously, this is something very personal, but fans just can’t help wondering, what’s the situation there?
Krum: I don’t like to talk about rumours, but I will say that my wife and I are no longer together. My ex-wife, I mean. We are still friends and I wish her all the best, but we have decided that separating is the best choice for both of us.
Did the divorce have anything to do with the recent… accidents with Muggles? Your former wife is a Muggleborn, after all; surely that must’ve caused some tension.
Krum: No. Absolutely not. She and I… The divorce has been something we have been talking about for a while and it has nothing to do with these accidents.
And what do you think about the no-contact statues currently in place in response to these accidents?
Krum: I understand why they are needed, but I also know how hard the situation is for wix with Muggle relatives and friends. I only hope it is resolved sooner. Until then, I will, of course, follow the statues.
You don’t agree with certain individuals who believe the truth should be revealed to Muggles, then?
Krum: Not right now, no.
But perhaps at a later date?
Krum: I can’t say. I can only speak about the present.
Okay, well, on a brighter note, it seems like things have been busy for you lately. You’ve been visiting a lot of Quidditch teams around the country, is that right?
Krum: Yes. I’ve enjoyed meeting the newer generation of players, talking to them, helping them if I can. They are all very talented. I think Quidditch will only get more interesting to watch with time.
Just to watch, not play? Because a lot of fans still have hope that you’ll come out of retirement one day. Any chance of that happening?
Krum: I don’t know. I still have much love for the game, of course, but I also think my time has passed. I did say I want to win the [Quidditch World] Cup at least once before I die, but, I don’t know. I can’t say at this time.
