the person she used to be held a certain fondness for the stars. they were like bright, guiding lights. capable of illuminting the vast and impenetrable darkness the night sky held. when her companions slept and worries kept her from dreams, she would stay up and watch their slow journey through the sky. watch and wonder and question. some were naive wonderings, expected of a bright-eyed youth with so little knowledge of the world. and then, as she got older, and the truth of how things worked made its way known to her, Morgan’s wonderings became far more somber. almost pleading were the words aimed at the silent stars, and as always, there was no answers to be found. but old habits die hard, and it was not uncommon for her to look up at the stars from her throne room, the well-known silence her only companion.
it was after the 1,500 year mark that she finally stopped looking.
the feat of making the celestial bodies that exist far beyond the reach of mankind touchable seemed to be the norm when it came to The Stars. (she saw the irony in it all as well.) despite having her initial reservations, there was a part of her that yearned for the bodies of light that shone bright once more and it is how she finds herself among the garden of heavenly bodies under the canvas of night. though initially content to simply observe, never reaching out, the intrigue got the best of her.
reaching out, Morgan grasps what she can only assume is some sort of moon, shrunken to the size of a volleyball. it is cool against her palms, the silvery glow it radiated giving her skin an unearthly color. a soundless sigh passes through her lips, eyes fluttering close for a moment. though it appears as if she’s alone, Morgan can sense a presence nearby.
“ Most would assume this to be a mere parlour trick.” is how she adresses the newcomer as fingertips tap against the moon’s surface. “ However.....it does not feel as if it belongs on this world. “
