Hear me out. Implanted memories where someone who would NEVER hurt their friends has it placed in their mind that they did terrible things to their loved ones. They can see every minute detail but can’t imagine why they did it. Bonus if they know before hand that it’s being implanted so they are begging like “no, please, I know i wouldn’t do that— please, don’t make me a monster” only for the begging to slowly be replaced by self loathing
BTW, Teal Swan is someone who used Satanic Panic mythology and cultivated false memories of SRA in her closest followers in order to make them feel like they needed her to heal them. This shit really does happen and people need to be aware of it.
So, I rewatched The Truman Show the other night for the first time in years and years, and LOST MY MINDDDD thinking about an XF AU. Where Mulder doesn’t know he is on a TV show called The X-Files, and everyone else is in on it, even Scully. EVEN SCULLY. (Who is really an actress named Gillian Anderson.) Obviously Christos is Chris Carter; Mulder thinks CSM is behind it all but CSM is just a pompous theater teacher named William B. Davis and he doesn’t even really smoke. They really are all watching Mulder and all out to get him but not in the way he thinks. His most paranoid fears are not even beginning to scratch the surface.
Like, I severely hurt my own feelings thinking about this. Maybe I’ll write it someday. (fat chance)
