Adrien holds the fact Marinette was amongst the many, many, MANY, people who forgot he was demiromantic above her head.
Like, everyone remembered he was pansexual and apparently that's all he was, but he definitely came out as demiromantic as well.
He probably would have "fallen in love" with her had he been more certain of their friendship. That way they would have formed a connection which could have led to much much more.
