You were on a business trip when your wife phoned you from your boss’ house. She tried to ease your worries, and, during the conversation, among other things, she said first, "Honey, he invited me over for dinner; it would have been utterly impolite to decline his invitation." Then, she added, "Of course I’m dressing very modestly; you told me that he has some reputation of being a womanizer." Finally, she added, "Do you really want me to rebuff his offer if he kindly offered me to stay overnight? It would be bluntly insolent. Don’t expect me to do so." She phoned you the next morning from his house and told you, "Honey, there is nothing you should worry about; your boss is a man of breeding. Now I understand why all ladies have such a high opinion of him."
