about: kaisei had an affinity for athletics in middle school with no particular interest in one nor the other, participating mostly in track events. it was his older brother hayate that had the passion for volleyball, talking about it fervidly and all but coercing his younger brother to learn the basics and set for him. it wasn't as if kaisei didn't like volleyball, more so that he was indifferent towards it, it was hayate's passion. it all ended abruptly in his second year of high school when a tragic accident left his elder brother paraplegic. he had been the captain of his team, the sort of person people gravitated towards and worked well with, he was affable, confident - and it hurt, it hurt more than anything to watch his brother stripped to a husk of his former self.
the surgery was painful, straining their family and it was decided that they would move away from their hometown, start a new- as best they could. hayate wasn't the same, once adored posters of famous players stripped from his walls leaving them stark, photos of years passed stuffed into moving boxes and desperately forgotten about. kaisei felt helpless. there was nothing he could do, could have done differently - one day, during the move, whilst packing his brother sighed in lament, a photo laid purposely faced down. i wish, i could have played one more time. is what his brother had said and kaisei took it to heart, made it his focus. if there was one thing he could do for his elder brother, it would be to pick up the mantle and follow in his footsteps. with that sense of purpose he began applying for schools, determined to find a school with a volleyball team where he could begin playing.
extra: kaisei is more of a reticent individual in contrast to his brother, with a distinct competitive streak. his determination means that no matter how he may be turned down or fail he will get up and continue with persistence. this can be detrimental to himself however, for he can be too hard on himself - wanting to succeed more than anything. he's shut himself out from others since the accident but before was known to be cordial, sometimes a bit of a wise-ass and the sort to crack half-assed jokes. due to his reserved nature he can sometimes come across as cold. :')
