“It was a normal day in the marketplace, the chatter of customers, the smell of fresh fish, and shopkeepers promoting their merchandise non-stop and this apple cart was certainly no exception.
"Freshly picked apples! Get em before they rot!" Two baskets filled with the succulent fruit adorned each arm of the merchant, failing to notice a blue furred canine stepping behind his back and grasping one such basket by the handle with its fangs.
"One, two, three, four," the pitter-patter of its paws marched in rhythm to a feminine voice as it counted the apples in her basket.
"five, six, seven apples! Enough to keep us going for tomorrow!" A cheery voice rung in his head. One which fell on deaf ears to others as the mass of baby-blue fur faded into the shadows with one of his baskets of produce. The shopkeep was befuddled but called out to the voice: “You’ll have to pay for that, you know!”
As the pitter-patter of paws intensified, the young wolf scrambled to reach a close friend of hers when suddenly, she found him laying still in the trunk of a tree surrounded by a group of wayward thugs. No sooner did they have her friend cornered did the silver-haired leather-clad ringleader of this particular pack walk towards the tree. “What is it?” he probed.
“A dog.“ one of the goons answered back. “But I don’t think he’s gonna make it.“
“I have a feeling he will.“ The leader turned around as did his men and found a girl no older than fifteen with hair as blue as the morning sky, clad in a red unbuttoned shirt with a yellow tee underneath with a deep blue pawprint design on the front. “So would you please stop poking at him and go about your day?”
“What makes you think we’re gonna listen to you, kid?“ another goon barked back only to find the white wolf leaping at him and slamming his jaws into his chest, killing him on the spot. The goon beside him fired a crossbow at the wolf who promptly evaded the attack and ended that goon as well with a swift bite to the neck. The girl’s eyes widened with shock right beside an expression of horror from an even younger child who was promptly pushed aside by the leader as he smirked to himself. “How interesting.“
“Now, I know what you’re thinking...“ hushed the girl to the white wolf. “Should I let bygones be bygones and the truth may-“
A blur of white passed her by in pursuit of the leather-clad leader who promptly lured the wolf to the top of the tower. The girl gives chase and is followed by the child. “Slow down!” The girl halted in her tracks to help the youth up, holding up her basket of apples to the child.
“You always gotta be fair and share whenever you can.” she smiled.
“I can’t stop now, I gotta help Tsume!“ the lad cried back to which the girl asked: “Why?“
He took a step back and barked back: “What’s it to you!?”
“I just want to do my part and help out in this world!“ The girl proclaimed. “I’ve lived a happy life until recently with my best friends in the whole world! Now my home’s gone and so are they... And I just want to do what I can for the one friend I have left.“
The youth before her looked to himself and admitted “Same goes for me. He saved my life and I want to repay him somehow...”
“Then repay him, you silly ass.“ she giggled back, to which the boy went on his way. She would never see the boy again in her life as the man who saved his life attempted to do so again later that same night. Lightning did not strike twice.
But the lass paid no further mind to the boy, she helped the boy out with the moral support he clearly needed after Kiba’s little stunt and that was all that mattered to help make the world a kinder place.
It’s what the voice in her head told her to do.
The two wolves wandered away from the burning house under the shadows of their guise, the man of the house grieving those he had lost as the fire roared before him. “What are we gonna do? I don’t know where anybody is, without Steve or Joe or... heck, even Josh! Is he alright?”
“Who are you talking about?“ the white wolf asked his apparent captive.
“They’re my best friends, Steve took me in and together with this other friend we and later on his baby brother Joe and more recently Josh. We played Blue’s Clues to figure out a whole bunch of stuff I can’t exactly communicate on my own, ideas, secrets, big news, all that stuff. And this other friend was really smart and...” The blue puppy began wobbling in worry, struggling to figure out the features only to be met with a haze of absent details. Blue kept fishing in her mind for something, anything that could identify her faceless friend when a voice began ringing in her head, the hymn echoed in the white wolf’s head as well and the two wolves began to focus on that voice. Homing in on the voice, they gave chase to whomever might be out there calling to them.
“Ah ah, ah ah ah…” The voice did call out. “Ah ah, oh oh.”
“Are you sure you know what you’re doing?” Asked Donzo to his friend.
“Come on, Skuld said minimal interference and given the jumpstart, I kinda have an obligation to belt out the speech to these mangy mutts.” Sarah shrugged scratching the back of her scalp. “Besides, it helps to exercise my vocal chords.”
“Show yourself!“ protested the white cub to the heavens above.
And lo and behold, the voice said ‘I can’t... The world is too ill.’
“Is the world sick...“ asked the cub in blue to which the heavenly voice answered: ‘In a sense, it is.‘ thus, the voice told of a vast multiverse that will open up to them in due time, and how these Loops have given them among countless others like them all the time in the world. 'Just do what you can to keep your sanity, make the world a kinder place... you may even have to kill if it comes to it.'
