Wondering how I got here A million times tongue tied Spit it out Never mind
Impossible Weight, Deep Sea Diver ft. Sharon Van Etten
Lights out, but my heart is still glowing
For once, I recognize the pain in us
I swore I wouldn't look the other way
I hear the sound, I hear that voice ringing in my ear
I've got nothin' to fear
cliff dive broken mind wondering how I got here a million times tongue tied spit it out never mind I think I'm addicted to the fear so I'll just let you down now - it's an impossible weight
Deep Sea Diver - Lights Out (Live on KEXP) So in love with this KEXP session that Deep Sea Diver (Seattle hometown heroes) did recently. You can watch the whole in-studio session here. Love this band and love KEXP for doing these. DSD’s album Impossible Weight was voted the #1 album of 2020 last year by KEXP listeners.
Rock on!
..:: #75. Deep Sea Diver - Eyes Are Red (Don't Be Afraid) ::..
Jessica Dobson spent the better part of her early career as a musician playing with other acts, including Beck, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and The Shins, but these days she's been solely focused on her own act: Deep Sea Diver. Her third album has plenty of defiant introspection set to blistering guitar, including the title track "Impossible Weight," where she collaborates with Sharon Van Etten, and the album's other highlight, "Eyes Are Red (Don't Be Afraid)." On this one, Jessica stares into our eyes and encourages us to join her in rising above our fears. The first half of the song strides along with a mix of drums and keyboards, but in true Deep Sea Diver fashion it's all used as a framework for Jessica to launch herself from into an intricate, four minute guitar solo.
Best Moment: When Jessica finds that driving theme for her echoing guitar beginning at 4:20.
The Album [Impossible Weight]: 7/10
