Stolas, Mutual abuse and Marriage
At the start of her arranged marriage to Stolas, she was as respectful as she could manage to be. Her family had raised her to succeed in her role as barer of Stolas's heir. Stolas did not return such respect, in fact he disrespected her and undermined her constantly, he had been raised to see her as lesser and below his status. When they started to conceive, as the age of 17, she suffered many miscarriages and just not falling pregnant. Stolas did not help, as he became less and less interested in having an heir, he didn't see the point to having one, and thus did not see the point to her. She started becoming more aggressive and pushy, if she failed at this task, her family would have her head. At 19, they finally succeeded, Octavia was born. Stolas completely discarded her, and left her to her own devices. She threw parties and acted out to get a smidgen of his attention and eventually she realized that he gave her the most attention when she was screaming the house down. She never screamed around Octavia, though, she cant help but feel guilt when she looks at her daughter...
Andrealphus, Upbringing and Family
Andrealphus has always been the pride of the family, even after he killed his father to assume the throne. He was the one who focused on Stella being the perfect woman, and taught her all the duties of a wife. He has a disgusting infatuation with controlling his sister and making her the most perfect wife and woman. With their mother out of the picture, his infatuation with women is completely put onto Stella. He refuses to give her any autonomy, refuses to admit that she's more capable then either of them would like to believe. She's his precious little sister who is incapable of anything, and he see's his niece just the same. Andrealphus stops Stella from rebelling with a mixture of physical punishment, psychological manipulation and A LOT of love bombing.
Octavia, Motherhood and Healing
Octavia's safety being at risk is what leads to Stella cutting Andrealphus off. She always felt guilty for Octavia being born a woman within the same system that abused her for being as such herself. After having Octavia, she refused to create another heir, so that Octavia would be the de facto Stolas heir. This was challenged by Andrealphus who is trying to take over the Stolas title, and marry Octavia off. This leads to Stella and Octavia fleeing to an old friend of Stella's, Sapphya, who is experienced in obtaining and protecting ones title. Sapphya agrees to help, but under the condition that Octavia and Stella both undergo therapy in the human realm for their issues.
