R-slur and Ableism in the Critical Community

As someone who was the target of the slur usage alongside Limus, I'll be saying my piece.

I'm not going to go in depth on ch*i or how he's enabled such behavior in the community before with armchair diagnosing REAL PEOPLE and speculating others conditions.

CW: Slur usage, Ableism etc.

PERSONALLY, I have a belief in how the R-slur could possibly be reclaimed, based on the etymology of the word and shifting the power of the current way it is used. That said, such a belief ignores the affect this word has had on thousands of people, including myself.

I believe the slur should not be used, especially in the context the word was used in was to discredit and name-call other people for doing actions the individual did not agree with. This is not reclaiming a slur, this is using a slur to disparage others! It doesn't help such name calling was directs towards people who are disabled.

Even if you FEEL like you can reclaim a slur because it was used against you, think about the context you're using such a word in. Think about such a word has affected others. Think about how you using it is going to affect the person you directed it at, as well as the people around you.

I'm always open to other opinions, but using a slur against people to put them down and disregard them as a person is wrong and should never be done.

You know, when we say that Ozzie is not a good representation of Lust, and that one of the reasons for that is that he cares about consent

Not that they are wrong in any way, but rape clearly involves lust.

Do people really think lust is cute? Lust is a lack of control over your carnal desires.

I think it’s hard to confront that lust can be bad for a lot of people because lust and sexuality are inherently intertwined.

Personally I’d make a representation of Lust/Asmodeus like consent for the pure fact that if the parties involved are consenting, it would give them more power, because more lust involved!

But yes, lust is a lack of control over sexual desires, and sometimes sexual desires aren’t positive, safe or healthy (oh god watch as the nonces call me a puritan for saying that lmao). Philias would fall under lust, though that brings up the question, would people predisposed to such conditions, but not act on such afflictions still be sent to hell? Because they still have lust, and it’s fairly unhealthy+negative, especially if left untreated.

To add on, would those with other sexual disorders (hypersexuality, for example) be damned out of their own control and despite their actions? Like these are genuine questions that Hazbin could have handled and commented on, instead of perpetuating purity and rape culture.

Also with rape and all that involving lust, I think people don’t want to admit as such, because it’s uncomfortable. For example, as a CSA/SA victim I don’t wanna think about how my abusers were sexually attracted to me or how they lusted over me. It’s just an uncomfortable thing to confront, but honestly WE HAVE TO. Because if we don’t, we’re not understanding the source of such violence.
