Upstairs Gallery Bulletin #15 (8/15-8/21) "Planet of The Apes 2: Apes in the City"
I guess the combination of James Franco, Freida Pinto, and a robot monkey played by Andy Serkis in an APEPOCOLYPSE (have been waiting forever to bust that one out) scenario has what it takes to pack America into the movie houses. MASSIVE SPOILER ALERT, turns out it was earth all along. I've always wished I could see the original Planet of the Apes devoid of any sort of context/cultural knowledge. Did people know the big reveal when it first came out? Were folks minds just blown? People just screaming at the screen in movie theaters? God that would be so awesome. For so long this was all I knew about Planet of the Apes. THIS WEEK AT THE GALLERY:
#1 No Wednesday and Sunday Shows this week: Playdate with Adam Schreck & Formal Apology/LosDosDudes are off this week while Adam seriously considers who his friends are and Formal Apology pause to gather themselves as they blow up so huge. Will Adam decide who is and is not his friend? Will Formal Apology let fame change them? Stop by the Upstairs Gallery next week to see.
#2 MONDAY NIGHT! Ben Franklin Presents: The Improv Jam "By the People, for the People!"

Did you guys know Ben Franklin was an improviser? OK I cannot tell a lie (that was Ben Franklin right?), he actually wasn't. That doesn't stop the folks from Ben Franklin Presents though. They're hosting a Jam TONIGHT at the Upstairs Gallery, and we can't wait!
Hypothesis: The Jam's a great opportunity to play with strangers and get strange with players.
Experiment: An open improv jam. We'll throw everyone's name in a hat, divide evenly into teams and perform.
Results:You'll have to show up to find out!

Are you ever pissed that The View happens while you are at work? When you finally do get to watch it, can you just not relate? Where is the view for the modern city kid/comedian? Well look no further folks. Aggie Hewitt has your back. In a late night show for the ages Aggie will probe the twisted corners of her guests mind. No story is to extreme, no question is taboo. Bookended by an improv set and a stand up set. You'd be a fool to miss it.

Thursday the variety comedy show stylings of James and Patty Nails Family Talent Show and Hoopla! Friday Aggie Hewett takes us on a late night talk show experience. We put up sketch shows, we did improv shows, we would do midnight improv jams for nine drunks just as long as we could get on stage and improvise. We never got paid a dime, but it didn’t matter because we were getting all this stage time that is invaluable and we were learning and growing and developing
