“OH. MY. GOD. IT’S THE best,” she replied, waving her hand. “If I want to go out for coffee with someone, I just… DO IT. No boss to tell me I can’t.” She nodded when Fish asked about the type of freelance work she did. “Yes, I used to work for a tabloid… a newspaper…” She leaned in conspiratorily. “A big one,” she muttered. “And it was all terrible. Old, white men trying to tell me what was HIP among the YOUTHS. I’m sure you know the type. So I figured… You know… I know better than them, so why not work for myself?” She shrugged. “You should try it sometime. Freelance FBI agent? Why the hell not, huh?”
She waved her hand again when Fish explained how most things were going to be classified. “We can figure something out and work AROUND all the classified stuff.” She thought about it for a second. “Are you working on something RIGHT NOW? We could do something like…” She pursed her lips, ideas running through her head. “Day in the life of? Following the epic life of an FBI agent. God, people will GO for that, lemme tell you.” She hadn’t really planned on doing any work while there were here. But they could make a start on something if Fish was willing to go for it.
“I’m sorry,” she said, her enthusiasm faltering a little when she realized this was her friend she was talking about. “I sometimes get a little overzealous when it comes to my articles. If you don’t want to do an interview, just… just tell me, okay?”
