I think it comes from the whole "best friends end up falling for each other" trope. Like they always end up seeing each other a lot cause they're Victor and Yuuri's respective best friends so they just end up falling for each other.

It’s just weird to me because it’s like… 100% fanon haha

and that’s not even “best friends falling for each other” it’s “people who might happen to see each other a lot falling for each other”
