The LAST edition of San Francisco's finest comedy showcase as OBAMA's gentrification has SHUT DOWN Lost Weekend Video! It's also the day after Valentine's Day so if you had a bad time yesterday lets blame him for that too. After all, it's President's Day! AMURICA
Imran G backstage at PianoFight.
Tomorrow night Imran and I are launching our new show based on the combination of comedy and photography, something I've been working on for a while. There will be great comics, there will be a red carpet entrance with flashing lights, and with PianoFight we have a great venue run by hipsters who can make strong drinks.
8pm this Wednesday, March 18th at PianoFight (144 Taylor, SF). Buy Tickets here.
Attractive Camp is a "comedy throwdown" where you can catch comedians from Comedy Central, Cobb's Comedy Club, and more power slam each other with spectacular energy and wit. This month we're kickin it old school with an Old Boys Club lineup (of young hearthrobs) from all over the Bay. Full bios and twitter handles below: Chad "Sasquatch Ranger" Opitz Michael "Serious Drug Dealer... Serioiusly" Montgomery Adrian "Laser Dong" McNair Imran "Shady Preacher/Champion Male Escort" G-i Brandon "Wilson's Stuntdouble in Castaway" Garner In the hot seat, Rap's MVP Cameron Vannini! And your fave weirdo babes Jesse Hett and Nicole Calasich host the shit out of the evening. CAMERON VANNINI - Cameron Vannini is a young, up and coming San Francisco based comedian. His sarcastic sense of humor and hilarious ability to share and examine his real life experiences, makes him a favorite in the bay area by both audiences & fellow comics alike. Having performed all over the country, Cameron is a regular at both the San Francisco Punch Line & Cobb's Comedy Club. He has also graced the stage at venues such as The Comedy Store & The San Jose Improv. Cameron has also had the honor of being a selected performer in numerous comedy festivals including the 2013 and 2014 SF Sketchfests, SXSW, The Sacramento Comedy Festival, and The San Francisco International Comedy Competition. He also co-produces a weekly comedy show at The Night Light in Oakland. Follow him on Twitter (@cameronvannini) CHAD OPITZ – SF Bay Area comedy legend Jimmy Gunn bestowed Chad Opitz with the 2013 “Best Newcomer” Award. This is a fitting tribute to the young comic whose sharp takes on horror movies, GMOs, electronic cigarettes and cheap beer has made Opitz a sought after performer by venue bookers and fans alike. Hailing from the great Northwest, Opitz is now becoming a Bay Area staple and was the winner of the 2014 Walk the Plank Comedy Competition. Follow him on Twitter (@chadopitz) MICHAEL MONTGOMERY – Michael Montgomery began stand-up at 17 in Los Angeles, and promptly quit because it was “all hard and lame and stuff.” However, after 15 years of learning he was even less talented at everything else, he is now one of the SF Bay Area’s least known (but least liked) comics. His material ranges from very funny to extremely funny, and he could safely be called “alternative” by even the most daring iconoclast. And – perhaps most importantly – he will not physically attack audience members for holding opinions which are oh so very wrong... usually. Follow him on Twitter (@veragesizepenis) ADRIAN MCNAIR – Adrian McNair is an East-Bay-based comedian who has made a big enough impression during his sophomore year of comedy to become a staple of the scene. He’s been featured at the San Jose Improv, Tommy T's, SF Punchline and is a favorite at independent showcases. Follow him on Twitter at (@adrian_mcnair) IMRAN G – Imran G hits the stage with intensity and clever quips that keep his audience enthralled and roaring with laughter. The Seattle native has performed around the country at Comedy Clubs, Theaters and Festivals as well as the NBC Standup for Diversity Showcase. He is a finalist in the Rooster T Feathers Competition, Winner of the Walk the Plank Comedy Competition and Winner of The Moth SF 2014 StorySLAM. Imran has worked with acts like Joe DeRosa, Kyle Kinane, Fortune Feimster, Robin Williams and more. When not doing comedy he enjoys doing cartwheels and acting like he knows how to breakdance. Follow him on Twitter at (@imrantheg) BRANDON GARNER – Brandon, with humble beginnings as a starbucks barista who was described as "tall" and "yeah, he's pretty tall", made the decision to become a stand-up comedian one one foggy night and never looked back. Proudly from the Bay Area, Brandon is now known as a comedian who is "not short", which he feels great about. Follow him on Twitter at (@brandandgarner)
“Bad Asian” is term used to playfully and condescendingly describe when an Asian person fails to live up to preconceived notions of what it means to be Asian. Not being a doctor/lawyer/engineer – bad Asian. Not grabbing a stack of napkins for your glove compartment – bad Asian. Eating vegan tofurkey – very bad Asian. The Colossal Show: Bad Asians will be featuring the best local stand-up comedians who will be covering a range of ideas and topics; from introspective contemplations of what it means to be a good person to rants on why Snow White was the worst Disney movie. Comics being featured will be second generation Asian Americans with differing backgrounds and upbringings, but somehow share some very specific commonalities due to their cultural lineage. After each performance, the comic will be interviewed by the host about their experience of being Asian in America and what makes them a “Bad Asian”. The show will be a frank, candid, and comedic expression and evaluation of the Asian identity. The show will feature David Nguyen, Imran G, other local comics as well as Comedy Central’s own Sheng Wang.
