Imogen used to babysit Garrick when she was sixteen and he was eleven. She needed the money to buy a car and cross three states to attend her dream university, and Garrick’s parents could use the extra help. Over two years, Garrick’s main entertainment was flirting with Imogen in every way he could think of. She would roll her eyes, pet his hair, and tell him to go drink his milk. He always came back with new ideas, and she laughed to herself afterward at his audacity. His parents would have a lot of trouble once he finished growing up.

And he did grow. Imogen had to look up and up to see his boyish face and untamed curls when she returned to her hometown to spend a few weeks with her mother and sister after graduating. Imogen’s heart lost its rhythm when he saw her across the street and almost ran toward her, his muscular frame taking over her entire field of vision. The glint of mischief in his eyes told her that he might still be interested in a certain form of entertainment.
