Exhaustion

The fan turns and spins in this faded room,

heart thumping and aching to my morbid song.

An emptiness which cannot be filled,

nor taken about from one's own self.

Myth of loving one's self before another stays and burns a hole through the paper heart, fire spreading and decaying and ashing where it goes.

The bird is slow on the cloudy day,

flying and turning to begin it's first meal.

But for when it searches, another has taken what it searches for.

The bird grieves in despair, yet silent while it watches it disappear down the others throat.

Eyelids blur the sight, from tears or sleep we will not know, for one cannot tell the difference when late in the midnight sun, waiting and hoping for a sign.
