Lupus is a chronic (long-term) disease that can cause inflammation and pain in any part of your body. It’s an autoimmune disease, which means that your immune system — the body system that usually fights infections — attacks healthy tissue instead.

9 out of 10 people with lupus are women

Women ages 15 to 44

Certain racial or ethnic groups — including people who are African American, Asian American, Hispanic/Latino, Native American, or Pacific Islander

Lupus is not contagious—you can’t “catch” lupus or give it to someone else.

No one knows what causes lupus — but lupus and other autoimmune disease do run in families. 

I am a Survivor of Lupus. My first fight with this horrible disease when the doctors first diagnosed me at age 11. It was no picnic. It took two years for it to go back in remission. Unfortunately, it came out again and with a fury when I was 15. Due to my lack of white blood cells something happened and I went into a coma for 3 days. Lupus is a silent killer and at that time it almost killed me. My mother never left my bedside at the hospital. All I remember is her face was caked in tears. The reason for me not being on this site as much as I want to is because my Lupus is out of remission again. Today i find out how much of a dosage of autoimmune suppressants my Rheumatologist will be giving me. There's a good chance they will start me on IV infusions since I cant digest anything properly. Vomiting has not been my friend lately, when is it anyone's friend.....anyway, keeping myself positive through this whole process. I'll be on here from time to time posting things. Walaupun belum sepenuhnya terbebas, langkah ini jadi terasa lebih ringan. Setidaknya saya tidak lagi begitu antusias untuk melihat ke belakang. Memang, katanya waktu akan menjawab semuanya. Ketika saya sadar akan hal itu, seketika pula saya merasa bodoh.

Kalau saya tidak merelakannya pada sang waktu, sama saja dengan saya tidak mempercayai bahwa sang waktu sudi menjawabnya.

Saya begitu terpukul sekaligus lega ketika saya sempat mengingatkan seorang kawan untuk bertawakkal. Saat dia gelisah pada handphone yang jauh dari jangkauanya, detik itu pula saya sadar bahwa yang membuat saya gamang itu karna saya tidak tawakkal.

Sok-sokan berdoa pada Yang Maha Kuasa, tapi tidak benar-benar berserah pada kekuasaanya. Sungguh tolol hamba yang hina ini.
