Well, at the beginning and when reading the final scene in the manga I thought: I hate that ending, but not because he dies, but how he dies. It just doesn‘t fit his personality not to fight back. Why coudn‘t he have an epic fight and die? Or at least a dramatic airport scene?
But now when watching the anime I think we have to thank Akimi Yoshida for such a wonderful story and Mappa for having produced an anime with such amazing art and animations. Thank you! The ending is still so sad but at the same time it is so beautiful. I think that‘s the first anime/manga that made me cry😭 I think that is the best anime I have ever watched😊
