“Oh wow this character design is hot”
Gets a few episodes in: fuck oh fuck fuck that’s the fucking hell that’s the point oh god fuck nooo fuuuckkk
everyone is so mad about ash's va that i feel like they're forgetting he is 17. no, he's not going to sound like a 30 year old, nonchalant mafia boss, HE'S STILL A KID. yall should be grateful that we got a dub in the first place.
Hiiii,
If you need someone to scream about Banana Fish to my DM's are always open. I just went for my rewatch when the dub came out. Not sure why I felt the need to do that to myself...but...welp. here we are. I watch it in sub about 2 years ago, left me destroyed. The dub is very, very very good in my opinion. Brandon McInnis is just absolutely phenomenal as Ash. He captures everything from the humor, the sarcasm, the darkness, the vulnerability perfectly. He even said when his casting was announced how important this role was to him and how deeply he worked on it and studied the original performance. I'm glad you're watching it and I'm very sorry for what's to come. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the rest of it, and have a good week :)
Heya! Tysm for the offer!! I have severe bfish brainrot that comes and goes in severity and i can tell you it is very severe right now. I've been a fan since 2019 and yet never properly interacted with anyone besides likes and reblogs 🥲 so I really appreciate this!
And yes I agree! I knew we'd be in good hands when Brandon made his video announcement, but wow he is just incredible in every way as Ash. I've already been close to crying at this dub at several points and i'm barely over halfway through.
You too! Have an awesome week!

Invisible Scars
whoever told me to watch banana fish count your days
Just watched episode 9 of Banana Fish in the English dub, and I am not okay.
God, I fucking despise Arthur, and God damn, Brandon McInnis killed it here. It was just as good as Yuma Uchida's performance, I think. It captured the same, raw emotion. I was waiting for this moment to see how it would stack up, and I wasn't disappointed. My heart absolutely shattered into a thousand pieces hearing Ash cry out Shorter's name over and over, until he finally just broke down into helpless tears, the same way I felt with Uchida's original performance. The way his voice kept breaking with the raw intensity of emotion and grief was insane, and then the way it slid into quiet sobbing...
Just kill me now.
