Went to see Yesterday bc the trailer looked cute. Could not comprehend the plot on even the most fundamental levels because it asked me to believe that LILY JAMES was somehow the lovesick unrequited one in that relationship, a concept so preposterous I thought it was trying to trick me somehow and refused to take the dialogue at face value. I was therefore surprised at *every single turn* because I kept thinking “surely now he will give up this mad charade and kiss Lily James, the only reasonable course of action” AND IT KEPT NOT HAPPENING
Like, it’s 2019, “frumpy friendzone girl I didn’t realize has been in front of me this whole time” is beating a dead horse anyway, but you can’t try to tell me LILY JAMES is that girl
