Suzanne Vega - In Liverpool
From the album 99.9°F
He sounds like he's missing something or someone That he knows he can't have now And if he isn't, I certainly am
And the boy in the belfry He's crazy, he's throwing himself Down from the top of the tower Like a hunchback in heaven He's ringing the bells in the church For the last half an hour He sounds like he's missing something Or someone that he knows he can't Have now and if he isn't I certainly am
A new-to-me Paul song. Which is not that difficult but this is one that I likely would never have stumbled across as it's not on any album. It was someone's hidden gem in a recent ep of One Sweet Dream, which is how I found it.
Nostalgic, folky, quite solemn and melancholy, an extended cry/howl mid-song and some intriguing references. Also he mentions a dog, Prince?
Walking with the boys of Dungeon Lane
Aimlessly towards the cast iron shore
Swapping tales about the Chinese farm
And getting caught
