“DEFEAT”
Ziegler wilted to her knees in devastated bewilderment. Her eyes heavy with fear and disgust as the enemy team surrounded her. Her team lay compromised, their bodies scattered and lifeless across the objective. 3%. That’s all she needed to revive them and salvage the point. Now she was at the mercy of the soldiers approaching her. Her heart pounded, but she said nothing. An instant later, she was disarmed and cuffed. A blunt strike to the back of her neck and her vision faded instantly along with her consciousness.
Hours later, she awoke, dizzy and with a pounding, splitting pain in the back of Angela’s head. It took her several minutes to gain her senses enough to realize she was shackled to a point on the floor, but free to move on her own will. She was in a holding cell of some kind, lain on a folding cot that was hardly comfortable, her arm on her left side mostly asleep from how she’d been positioned.
She sat up slowly, pushing herself up with her right arm, shoulder rolling to allow blood flow into the other again. Eyes opening, her deep violet hues adjusted, pupils dilating to adjust to the darkness. It was a stark contrast to the cells at Talon HQ. The temperature was comfortable. No blinding lights. Fresh air through the vents even. Aside from the pounding headache, she didn’t observe any other trauma sustained since she had blacked out.
“Where- ah.” She grunted, lifting her hand to feel a connection between something and her wrist. An I.V., no doubt. For being held prisoner, the medic certainly didn’t understand these circumstances.
