Choosing The Perfect College
I decided that if I was going to start a blog it was “Go Big or Go Home”. That’s why I’m going to tackle one of the hardest topics, choosing the perfect college. I’ve found my perfect fit and while I’m ready for the next four years to begin, lots of my friends have no idea where they will be spending their college years.
Here are a few things to consider as you make your way to “Decision Day”:
What are you majoring in?
If you have no idea, it’s probably best to look for a college that excels in all areas, not just one.
If you are leaning towards a career that is heavily dependent on your writing skills, you might want to consider a liberal arts college.
If you are picking a college based on financial aid, a public in-state college might be the best bet.
If you are preparing for a fine arts career, make sure the colleges you are looking at offer BFAs, not just BAs.
In-State vs. Out-of-State?
When you are trying to figure out whether or not to leave the state, consider more than just the price tag on the school.
Can you handle being states away from your family?
Do you know anyone local?
Is the weather going to be too big of a change?
How important is it for you to have study abroad experiences?
Does your top choice school offer them?
Are study abroad experiences included in your tuition or is it extra? Can you afford it?
Is Greek Life offered at your school?
What are the fees to join?
What percentage of the campus is involved in Greek Life?
Do you love the school you’re going to choose?
