To a God Unknown is a journey through barren landscapes, spiritual erosion and the uneasy bond between man, nature and belief. Inspired by John Steinbeck’s novel of the same name, the album moves between gothic doom, death doom, atmospheric and avant-garde elements, rejecting rigid structures in favor of atmosphere, emotional weight and gradual transformation. Across its songs, false gods collapse, silence becomes sacred, and the earth itself emerges as something older and more enduring than human fear, faith or ambition. Slow and meditative at times, violent and unpredictable at others, the album unfolds less like a collection of songs and more like a descent — into solitude, memory and the hidden forces that persist beneath ruin. Written, performed and produced by Mário Pereira under the name In a Forest Dark.
