Wrote this poem, inspired by a certain consulting detective and also some of my own personal history;
“SH”
Afraid of what I’d see
I’d look at only what was below me
Above,
Disappointment, a façade, a reality,
Awaiting my unnatural scrutiny
Precise,
I could pick away at what I saw
Should I look up and observe all
Despite,
The truths that await me there
I decided ‘benefit of the doubt’ only fair
Avoid,
To see what I knew disreputably
I angled my gaze to a level of neutrality
But Now,
I do myself disservice
In trying to preserve infallible, Us,
Behold,
As my skills are honed
And break down the Bastioned
Intend,
To crack the indefinable mystery
That is you or I and injury
So hide,
What you deem must be hidden
But know all I’ve needed, you’ve given
Expose,
You for who you are
A quirk, a word, excessive by far
Admit,
Yourself, I’ve already won
I’m in your head and you are undone
My skill set is second to None.
