InboxMind App: What’s new

InboxMind App’s new version (1.2.1427) is now available on the Apple Store*. 

First, we would like to thank all our customers from across the globe. We are humbled by your valuable feedback and support. Here are some exciting new features based on our experience and customer feedback:

Improved InboxMind iPad App experience in Landscape Mode (horizontal display)   

InboxMind iOS app users can enjoy a seamless InboxMind productivity exprience on their Microsoft Surface 3 Tablets and Windows PC’s.  

InboxMind Windows App beta version for Microsoft Surface 3 Tablets and Windows PC's (MS Office/Outlook 2013/2010, Windows 8/7, 64 bit & 32 bit) is coming soon. For now, it will be offered to our iPhone/iPad App subscribers only. As a small token of our appreciation, InboxMind iPhone/iPad App subscribers as of March 31, 2015 will be the first ones to get the exclusive invitation to the InboxMind Windows App, and it will also be offered to them FREE as long they remain our iPhone/iPad App subscribers. Thanks again to our early adopters, you are the best!

Faster email account setup for Office 365 & Outlook email users 

We made your email  account setup process real easy while maintaining the highest security standards. It is important for you to know that the InboxMind App is more secure than traditional email apps that store your ‘password’ on their cloud servers. InboxMind App encrypts your ‘password’ and secures it ‘locally’ on your own device. Which means your ‘password’ is never transmitted to us or stored in our cloud servers. InboxMind cloud servers never store your email content and we will never sell information about you to third parties! Data within the Inbox App is secured using AES 256-bit encryption algorithms. Any data transmission is encrypted using industry-standard SSL (https) encryption. For details, please read our privacy policy 

Enhanced Auto Signature functionality 

You can easily setup your default InboxMind App signature for each of your devices where you have install the app. You can also edit it while composing a new email or replying to an existing one.

Email Setup for InboxMind iPhone / iPad App

Congrats! Now that you have downloaded and installed the InboxMind app from Apple Store  here are the instructions on how to setup your email account and resolve any common issues:

InboxMind App supports the following email:

1. Microsoft Office 365 

2. Microsoft Exchange Server 

3. Outlook.com, Hotmail.com, Live.com, Msn.com

InboxMind Email Account setup requires the same information that you used to setup your email account with the iPhone/iPad native Mail app: 

1. Microsoft Office 365 Users 

Once you have checked your native iPhone/iPad Mail setup information, enter the same information as shown below:  

note: server name for office 365 is generally: outlook.office365.com   

domain: generally no value required. But check your iPhone/iPad native Mail settings and enter the same domain information here.

2. Microsoft Exchange Server

Once you have checked your native iPhone/iPad Mail setup information, enter the same information as shown below:

3. Hotmail, MSN, Live, Outlook.com Email 

  Typical Issues / Most Common Errors:

1. If you get "time-out" error, it means your email server is busy or temporarily unavailable, or the network connection failed. You can try after a few minutes and make sure that you are connected via Wi-Fi / high speed network connection.

2. If you get "authentication failed" error, it generally means:

(a) Incorrect information entered in your email account. Please check again and make sure you enter the correct "server name" and "domain name" information, the same information that is entered in your native iPhone/iPad Mail app. 

(b) Some MDM software (like mobile iron, airwatch, etc.) or other network or Exchange security settings are restricting the InboxMind active sync communication with Exchange. Please contact your IT administrator.

(c) Exchange server by default allows up to maximum 8 mobile devices to sync with your mailbox. It may be rare, but please check using Outlook Web Access (OWA) whether you have reached that limit. If have reached the limit, please delete some old devices from the sync list.

InboxMind: 3 easy steps to get the best value

Thank you for installing the InboxMind app.  Here are three recommended steps to get the best value:

1. Adjust Priority accoring to your needs: Upon successful installation, you will notice that your last 30 days' email and any new email received going forward, is automatically assigned a color-coded “Priority" (Very High = VH, High = H, Medium = M, Low = L and Someday = SD). Please go through your recent email in Inbox or Sent Items, tap on the “Priority envelope” (as shown below) to change the email priority to reflect your needs and preferences. This feedback will help it rapidly learn and immediately become more accurate.

2.  Flag email for “Action” (shown below) by tapping on the “Flag” and selecting date for action (Today, Future, No Date). You can then view you Action List by clicking on View button (top right). Once you are done completing an action (or if no action is needed), simply mark it “Complete” (tap “Flag and select “Complete” option). Refresh the view to get the “Completed” email out of your view, by gently pulling the email down and releasing it.

Note: you can mark an email as To-Do or Complete without actually opening the email. Just click on the Flag next to the email.

3. Adjust InboxMind view & Other Settings: Set InboxRadio text-to-speech alerts to let you know when a new important email arrives. Adjust what you want to see in your InboxMind main view (we recommend Medium Priority & above). Tap on the Gear Settings button at the top left as shown below and select  “Inboxmind Main View”  or “New Email: InboxRadio & Alerts”.

Going to a meeting? Want to quickly turn off the InboxRadio? Simply, flip your iPhone Ringer Switch to OFF (this switch is located just above the Volume control buttons, as shown below).

Setup your autosignature: Go to Settings (gear on the top left on InboxMind main view) / Select Account / Select Signatures (scroll down on the Account page).

Will Email Die? NO

It’s like saying, will Twitter die if Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, etc. become more popular?

Anything can happen in technology, but when it comes to the current state of “Email” technology -- the answer is NO in the next foreseeable future. Here are 3 reasons why:

Reason 1: The word "communication" is too broad of a spectrum.  There is hardly any tool other than Email that is suitable for a certain spectrum of communication as explained below:

number of people involved (one to one, one to team, one to masses, internal , external)

directionality (primarily one way from sender to recipient, active two way, primarily from recipient to sender e.g. campaign to have each customer send their pictures using the product or click on like button)

type of thought process (well thought out, structured thinking,  formal style e.g. meeting summary minutes, adhoc, unstructured, informal e.g. quick chat back and forth),

type of content shared (audio, video, text, pictures, micro blogs, blogs, articles, links, etc.)

formal business environments, legal & privacy factors (information privacy, confidentiality, legal requirements on archiving & discovery, now a days encryption and content self-destruction are hot requirements)

Others factors (alerts, criticality, etc.)

Email is still the best choice for communicating: one to one, one to team (small to mid-size teams for sure),  one or two way directionality (you expect some learning, feedback & response from recipient), structured thinking (email is expected to be mature well thought our response), primarily text content and business environments (guess what is the number one app used by corporations and governments). I would argue that there is no other communication tool that even comes close to “Email” when you communicate externally with clients, vendors and partners.

  Reason 2: Email is still your primary unique ID

In spite of Facebook, Yahoo and other open social identity management systems, Email is still your unique identifier. No matter which phone, tablet, fablet or PC you use – you can access your email anywhere and any of these devices. When you start your account with Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, etc. the Email address is still your primary identity. Although you can switch phone numbers etc., no one in this world will ever have the same Email ID as you (of course I am not talking about general or shared mailboxes) . So this is another reason, why Email will continue to stay alive and healthy in the many years to come.

  Reason 3: Smart Apps are constantly Rethinking Email

There seems to be a general notion that Email is still the same like it was 25 years ago. It is not. People ignore the fact that smart phone phenomenon started less than 10 years ago. Earlier people had phones where they could talk and text, but not smart phones where they could use Email. And Email was indeed one of the top primary reason, the Wall Street and the Main Street started buying Blackberries and iPhones. Just in the last couple of years, there is a great innovation taking place in the Email Apps industry. From smart email notifications & alerts that are bringing it closer to text and chat type instant gratification,  to managing your email by touch gestures and voice,  absorbing email information by smart text-to-voice, and embedding calendars, contacts & chats within email client are improving the overall Email experience.

Email is not meant for all types of communications. But for the spectrum of communication it is meant for, we will argue that as Smart Email Apps that take the user productivity & experience to a whole new level; and as text messaging and chats becomes overwhelming and duplicative – more users  will return to old fashioned Email.
