As each supernatural story is different, what role do the familiars play in the lives of the coven in Incaendium? If that is too spoilery, can you tell me more about the coven dynamics with regards to Jimmy? Obviously, Dutch is jealous because he lost both parents and Jimmy has both of his and brothers.
Very good question! Unfortunately there is not a very clear answer as I’ve changed things around in the story so much. Originally they were going to play a bigger part but now they don’t have as much as a role to play. Mostly they are kind of like an animal guide and companion. They are all bonded with their familiar and in some way’s they can also help with spells and things. Not to say that each are not closely bonded with their familiar but there are some obviously, like Dutch and Bobby, who have very close bonds with their familiar. The animals that they have bonded with as well are telling of each of their personalities too. If that makes sense.
As to Jimmy, well that’s complicated. The group was hand picked by Kreese, he was the one who brought them together and taught them about their magical heritage. Most of the group bonded over the loss of their parents and that makes Jimmy a bit of an outsider due to the fact that his family is still completely in tact. Yes, there is definitely jealousy on Dutch’s part, but at the same time Jimmy is a part of their circle so he can only take his dislike so far. Out of the group, Jimmy is closest to Ali and Bobby.
Later on in the story we do get to know more about Jimmy’s family and their involvement in magic as well. I can’t go into too much detail about it mostly because it would be too spoiler-y lol
