The Great Gingerbread Heist - 1
It was getting to that time of year, where everyone was getting festive, christmas lights were being hung, and everyone was getting ready. There was one tradition, however, that would always be held no matter what year it was….
“Peach’s Gingerbread house.” Ness told Joker.
Joker had been brought by Lucas to a secret hideout that only some of the younger smashers know about, which in reality was Zelda’s really deep closet that she doesn’t know they use. When he told him about the hideout, he expected some kid stuff, like drawings and whatnot.
He saw complicated drawings that looked like intangible scribbles, names with symbols, and pictures of a gingerbread houses. In short, it looked like a couple of kids that had half of an idea of what they were doing made it.
In front of him was Ness, who was sitting behind a table wearing a suit and sunglasses. On the table next to him, he was petting Pichu. Beside him were Pit and Toon Link, both crossing their arms and wearing the same thing as Ness.
“So you brought me here to help you steal a gingerbread house?” Joker asked. “A small, edible, art project that’s used to feel festive?”
Ness chuckled. “Joker Joker Joker. We aren’t talking about any ordinary gingerbread house. We’re talking a gingerbread mansion.” Ness stood up. “A whole house, the height of Palutena, each bite containing the sweet goodness of one whole gingerbread house!”
Joker sat back in his chair. “So, why don’t you go and steal it yourself? You have more knowledge on this than I do.”
Pichu growled at Joker, but was picked up by Pit and petted until it was calm.
“Heh, if only it were that easy.” Ness started. “Princess Peach, the one who bakes it, may seem like a nice lady. But she rules this house with an iron fist. Just last week, Toon got grounded for riding Epona.”
“She said it was Link’s horse! I’m a Link!” Toon shouted, breaking his bodyguard character.
“We’d try asking to get some, but every year, she says kids aren’t allowed to have any…” Ness told Joker. “But we know full well that she gives the ones that aren’t perfect to Kirby! So, we tried doing what any other kid would when faced with oppressive adult tyranny and sheer favoritism. We tried stealing some."
"But that security of hers is tight.” Pit added. “No one’s been able to break through.”
Joker nodded. “So why me specifically?”
“Your a part of a group who’s probably stolen countless priceless artifacts.” Ness told him, being honest how he hasn’t read up on the epic history of Persona. “This won’t feel that different.”
“Hm.” Joker mumbled. “Why exactly are you trying to get this gingerbread mansion?”
Ness sighed and took out a Sepia picture. It was a picture of Meggy wearing his hat. “I have a lady, Joker.” He began talking like a mafia boss in those old movies. “She never tasted the sweet goodness of gingerbread with unhealthy amount of sugar. So, I did what any good boyfriend would do. I told her I would steal it for her, so she could be happy.”
“…So, to get to the point, you need me to steal it so you, your friends, and your girlfriend who looks incredibly similar to one of my friends can eat it?” Joker implied.
Ness, Pit, and Toon Link looked at each other. “Yes.” They said in unison, breaking out of their business characters.
“Alright. What’s in it for me, though?”
Ness and Pit looked over at Toon. “Well…” Toon thought for a moment. He whispered the offer into Jokers ear.
Joker mulled it over. “Make it 35%, throw in $20, and you got a deal. But I’ll need a team.”
“I already have that covered. Plus yourself, we have Incineroar, the muscle, MegaMan as the hacker, Bowser Jr as the explosive expert, and Villager as the getaway driver."
"Blue will also be coming with you as the disguise expert. You never know when you’ll need to disguise.” Ness told him.
Joker stood up and readjusted his mask. “It’s fine. I don’t think I’ll have to disguise myself.” He then grinned.
“Having to disguise oneself when being faced with an opposition that doesn’t require it isn’t very tasteful.” Joker told them.
