When a bee stings a human, it does not die, but in fact turns into a human itself. It turns into the type of human that talks to you at the bus stop whether you want them to or not.

Hearing an insistent buzzing noise (i.e. what we now call 'tinnitis'), was diagnosed as an excess of bees in the body, the remedy for which was bee-letting (i.e. opening up the skull to release the tiny bees trapped inside).
Stiff or aching joints (e.g. arthritis), was diagnosed as a deficiency of beeswax in the bones. The remedy for which was the release of more bees into the body by any means necessary.
