My city voted on an anti discrimination ordinance in the very early morning to ensure that all people, regardless of real or perceived race, ethnicity, national origin, age, gender, gender identity, gender expression, familial status, marital status, socioeconomic background, religion, sexual orientation, disability and veteran status would be free from discrimination & give everyone, "...equal access to employment, housing, and public accommodations."
& IT PASSED!!
In 31 days, it will be illegal for a person to discriminate against trans folk. Our brothers & sisters cannot be fired based solely on their gender identity & expression. Our brothers & sisters cannot be evicted or denied housing based on their gender. Our brothers & sisters can use whatever bathroom they're comfortable using & not be discriminated against.
They're also going to appoint a Civil Rights Coordinator (I believe that was the title) to ensure all rights are protected.
