Let me tell you guys something about this girl.

I wasn’t on the livefeed at the time she spoke, but I heard a lot of good things. This girl is in seventh grade & went in front of city council to speak about her friend who is pansexual & how she doesn’t want her to be discriminated against. There’s an exact quote floating around, but she essentially told this room of aldermen that since she’s too young to vote, they needed to vote in favor of the anti-discrimination ordinance for her. 

I’m so proud to live in a city with bright minds like her & her mom, who I’m reblogging this from, who raise children with minds like hers. So thank you, thank you, thank you for raising this generation a little better than the last.

My city voted on an anti discrimination ordinance in the very early morning to ensure that all people, regardless of real or perceived race, ethnicity, national origin, age, gender, gender identity, gender expression, familial status, marital status, socioeconomic background, religion, sexual orientation, disability and veteran status would be free from discrimination & give everyone, "...equal access to employment, housing, and public accommodations." & IT PASSED!!

In 31 days, it will be illegal for a person to discriminate against trans folk. Our brothers & sisters cannot be fired based solely on their gender identity & expression. Our brothers & sisters cannot be evicted or denied housing based on their gender. Our brothers & sisters can use whatever bathroom they're comfortable using & not be discriminated against.  They're also going to appoint a Civil Rights Coordinator (I believe that was the title) to ensure all rights are protected. 

I am so proud of my little city in Arkansas, especially our incredible mayor, Lioneld Jordan.

Although I don't believe for a single moment that Michael Brown robbed this convenience store, it warrants mentioning that even if he had, there was no evidence that he was carrying a weapon. There is absolutely no reason why Darren Wilson shot Brown other than going for the first brown boy he saw.

I’ve seen a couple of reports stating that cops are mocking peaceful protesters while shooting tear gas and rubber bullets at them. I’m glad they think it’s funny. #ferguson #mediablackout

On Michael Brown & Ferguson, Missouri

This is a reminder that I am a white person. I have my own reasons to fear the police, but racial reasons are not one of them. I do not plan to speak too much on the situation other than reblogging posts & adding more information from those who have the authority to speak on it.
