Hey not sure if you’ve been asked this before but can you explain how you edited the goober comic panel with index mode? I wanna do something similar but I’ve never seen it before
FIRST generally you want to shrink the art down to make the pixels visable. if i can make something 540px wide i will since thats tumblr clarity sized. i can scale it up later if i want
other programs might have an indexed mode where you can hopefully edit the colors. we are trying to learn advanced ways to do this in Krita (palettize and colorize filters??), but we arent ready.
youre trying to get the base count of total colors low-ish and the "palette" to recognize the right ones as early in the count as possible (the yellow wouldnt show up at only 12 colors unless i picked perceptual). u just kinda fuck around, theres a dithering option. its okay. 100% feels pointless to me and 0% can be cool
the wacky part. because the index mode kinda dulls n unifies the colors (which can look nice) it helps if you can have the original version in a separate window you can colorpick from, or if you cant, uploaded into a website that color picks hex codes on the fly from the upload that you paste in. get experimental. shift them hues
before manual changes to 18 colors (roughly):
colors after:
this can either be your final piece to make digital sketches nicer to look at, or a tool you can use to get experimental with your colors after making a sketch painting in preparation to paint it fully, etc
