something i find really funny about chinese translations of tf character names is how utterly unrelated to the original name some of the early ones are.

most notably ravage, who to my knowledge is based off a panthar/jaguar (both of which belong in the cat family), but his chinese name is 机器狗, which translates literally to 'robot dog', which is incorrect because a) ravage is not a dog and b) the term 'robot dog' is not synonymous to 'ravage' at all.

it's even funnier when you take into account the possibility that they did not at least make the effort to correct his species(?) because 机器猫 (robot cat) is the localized name of Doraemon.

i have extremely complicated feelings regarding the blast off/onslaught pairing as a whole, which is essentially my 'i die a little whenever i draw something resembling ship art' post but a lot worse, and i won't share them because i don't want to put off people who like what i've drawn for them. i am and always will be very grateful to anyone who likes my stuff, but it just pains me a little when it's art of onoff. for like... personal reasons i guess, i also would like to make it clear that i don't ship them despite what i've drawn probably making it look like i do. maybe i'll post about it on a private blog or something but it's weird and nonsensical and too personal to be on an art blog.

please, someone to talk to me about the characterizations of g1 cliffjumper / mirage / hound. any one of the three is fine. or direct me to a post on your blog where you have before. i need to understand them but doing character studies on g1 cartoon characters is proving to be unexpectedly hard. please
