Señor, Can we have uno update on your game project and on new drawings por favor?
Right, its been a while, huh.
I guess now is the time for some big life updates-all under the cut of course, this is going to get looong.
The Game
Since this is what you asked about, it's what I'll start with.
As I mentioned previously, I was working with someone to prototype the basics of the game. I made some assets, sprites and even the first level boss.
These are guides I gave to the programmer, but will drop here for you guys too.
There are somethings I wish to have done differently, but I also like them the way they are.. weird, right?
Apologies if anyone finds her unsettling, but that is also the point.
The way Bea is set up, she will end up having smoother animations than the choppy 8fps I have been using for Elise so far. This is stuff I should have planned better. I should of made a puppet for Elise similar to that of Bea and just use some puppet animation software for the sprites. Now I have a lot of work to do all over again.
As for the actual game itself, communications got cut real fast due to me-once again-dropping out of college.
College
I get the beautiful misfortune of being Canadian during this time of Earth. Doug Ford sucks and college became a financial risk I simply can't take. Now my main means for contacting the programmer became squat and they have a really busy schedule.
Now, granted, I too am a programmer. It's what I was studying in the first place. Just sucks because they had far more experience than me, especially in 2D. So I get to do some self teaching - as if I haven't already been doing that, just without the $3,000 price tag - I need to learn about 2D scrollers.
I can go on a whole rant about my days in college to fill 2 time a post this length, but I'll cut it at: The program sucks just as bad as the financial dents.
Life After May
Since I left college, I started to look for jobs since people need to make a living. I'm people. I did at some point find something, but the application wasn't honest. I ended up working, on my feet for 14 hours a day for $0/h, and getting by with 5 hours of sleep on a good day. I didn't have time to do anything for my projects, let alone myself.
I was absolutely drained from it - yes, I left that job - and dealing with an everything-block. Art, writing, planning, it is all a little tough right now.
I also got horribly sick! Some sort of virus hit me, they couldn't tell what it was, and left my voice wrecked. I have a small permanent - for now, god I hope for now - cough and my voice can't return to its past octave. I'm just ranting now, lol oups.
Art-Block
I've just been preparing for Art Fight, since doing that tends to help fuel my creative drive. So most of my up-coming works will just be reference sheets of my characters, or attacks of other people's characters. Although, like always, July is my busiest month on the summer season. I will be out of the province for a bit, meaning my activity wont be anything crazy, but my followers are already use to that, aren't ya? lol.
So.. the update is "A whole lot of steps backwards."
I'm not expecting to pump this game out in like a year. I'm solo, indie, making all the art-and code now-by myself. I have no idea what to do for music, and I still need to work so support this. But my determination hasn't left.
I do what to thank you guys for being so patient with me, I'm not your exemplary social media artist by a long shot, yet you all stick around. I'm still around and working to get you guys pretty or silly images to look at.
