India Art Fair 2018: In which @arvindpoet and I had the good fortune to meet K.S. Radhakrishnan. AJ as usual had to be dragged from work (he always says go with friends, girlfriends, boyfriends...enjoy) but am sure now he and ye all know why it is always worth tagging along with me. Yo! 😜😍🤗❤️ 🤩🤩🤩 Before I share with you my impressions and observations about this year's mega art extravaganza along with some photos we managed to take while soaking some wonderful works at the preview/vernissage last Friday, this moment deserves a special, solitary mention. Yes, yes, yes, AJ and I happened to catch his so very very favourite Shri K.S. Radhakrishnan, the notable sculptor at IAF 2018! Prodded by AJ, I proceeded to ask this unassuming, smiling man sitting and chatting with a friend if he was the artist himself. Voila! what ensued was an amazing exchange of dialogues on art and media between the two men - both born in Kerala. AJ also told him how he had met him years ago and the artist had gifted him a signed book of his works. I gushed and told him I happened to catch his works at the recently concluded 59th National Exhibition of Art at Lalit Kala Akademi and he proceeded to tell us in detail about bronzes on display there that were created in 2006 and 2010, and his new work on display at IAF. Sir Radhakrishnan's humility is overwhelming. "Let's take pictures in front of my work" - he said, when I requested and clicked him where he and AJ were standing. He was swarmed with people after that. What a wonderful man! Boy! did he oblige us. Our respective Art Fair Catalogues are now worth millions. They are priceless actually! He drew for both of us and then signed. 😘 Definitely 'the defining' moment of our outing at the event this year.
