Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Ajay Bhatt visited INS Vela on 26 February 2022 at Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam. INS Vela is an indigenously built submarine and was commissioned into the #IndianNavy in November 2021. She is the fourth submarine to be built at Mazagon Docks Limited, Mumbai and symbolises India's prowess in indigenous construction of submarines. The submarine is equipped with the latest weapons including torpedoes and anti-ship missiles and state-of-the-art sensors. The submarine is the second incarnation of the erstwhile Foxtrot class submarine which was also known as Vela.
