While we were taking a little social media break our special needs duck group grew by 3 duck! We also built them a temporary duck run at the new property so they can spend time outside while we are working. It's not completely predator proof so they can only be in there while we are here with them, but they love it! You all know Mac, Ducky's brother, he's a pretty healthy little guy overall. His feet cross when he walks so he stumbles sometimes but overall he is good. He could never outrun a predator though so he will always need to be in a house at night and in a predator proof run for outside time. The big pekin duck is Ida. She's missing one foot and while she gets around ok in the grass and on @carefreshpets bedding she can't really walk around inside. She honestly might be more than we can handle but we are giving it a few weeks to see if we can provide the quality of life she deserves before considering a transfer to a waterfowl experienced rescue. The little duck with her wing sticking out to the side is Fuji and her sister is Kiku. They're both very tiny and very loud. They both have bumble foot and Fuji has angel wing. Despite how much they like to scream at me I think we are going to get on very well. Kiku might be the grumpy bun of the duck world though. Now, I'm going to relax a bit while we wait for 2 boarding guinea pigs to get here!
