Locking down the Virus, rather than locking down people. #IndiaVsCovid-19
Since my inception in this world, which is almost two and a half decades now, never have I ever seen this world witness a trouble time as the one it is witnessing now. From the richest of the rich to the poorest of the poor, from the heir of the Great Britain to a common daily wager in remote Bihar, everyone has been affected by Corona Virus by some or the other way. Some are suffering health, some are suffering hunger, some are suffering economy and mostly everyone bothered in someway or the other.
Coming to the China virus, its done really well for China, which is now exporting $3000 ventilator for $50000 each and $0.02 masks for $0.20 each.
Out of the several viruses we came across in the past years like the Ebola (50% mortality rate), Marburg (25%), Influenza (40%), Rabies (100%), how come a virus which has one of the least mortality rate (3.4%) of all the viruses has been able to create such a worldwide panic situation. Or is this just a game plan of China, to boost its exports by exporting fear?
People talk about how every country is trying to cope up with this situation and win the war for humanity in its own way. More precisely, even the big people from the WHO talk about how India can lead the world against this pandemic. But, is India really doing that good for itself and the world?
With the kind of leadership that we have, one must admit that among all, this is the best that we have got and they are putting all efforts to uplift the country from this danger.
Lockdown, social distancing, clapping, lighting lamps and candles etc seem to be fruitful but are these really enough? Or are we missing some common sense here?
If we look at how corona virus spreads from one person to the other, its mostly when the infected person breaths out or coughs. The virus then infects the surrounding air and the surfaces nearby. Now instead of locking down people at their homes and pushing the economy to recession, how about locking down the virus itself?
We know that the vaccine for this virus is not coming anytime soon and hence we need to adapt to cope up with this virus.
If Modiji could appeal the people to make masks a part of their lifestyle compulsorily for the next few weeks, and slowly start lifting the lockdown. Within no time, the virus effect will come down to its knees and the economy will start reviving itself towards a real high growth.
Just following the normal routine along with wearing masks all the time and everywhere, along with washing hands regularly, the chances of spreading the virus will come down drastically.
Just one condition that each and every person follows this religiously.
If then an infected person also comes near a healthy person, his own mask will prevent virus outbreak from him and the healthy person’s mask will further protect the latter by wiping out any minor possibility of the some particles escaping the infected person.
Now, every person needs to change at least 3 masks a day, this can be post breakfast, lunch and dinner. Followed by a proper hand-wash and disposal of the used mask. And any touching of the worn mask while having water or any other short instance of touching the nose or mouth should be done with sanitized hands.
This way the virus will remain locked down within the infected person, hence there won’t be a need of locking down the whole country. Also, we will also stop the spread of virus within the family members of the infected people.
Now the next question is how to achieve this. So, either the government can distribute a box of masks for every person just the way they are distributing ration, or people themselves can make simple masks at their homes using ordinary cloth or a hankie. Some questions will arise that how effective will be a surgical mask and a home made mask compared to the N-95 masks.
So the N-95 mask prevents 95% of the liquid particles to breach inside. While the plain surgical mask prevents just 5% input. But the interesting thing is that even the ordinary mask is capable of confining the output from an infected person’s breath or coughing. So with all the people wearing even the ordinary of masks, the infected person wont let out any virus from him and the healthy person wont have a chance to intake it. Hence, this spread is bound to stop.
And after buying this amount of time, our country is capable enough to produce the N-95s or N-99 masks for even better protection. As an additional information, the cost of making a plain mask is less than one rupee and the N-95 mask costs approximately 20 rupees each.
This is the time when whole world economy is hitting the rock bottom and China is continuously exporting fear to make it worse. India needs to rise and lead the world not only against the virus but also against the economic and biological world war started by China. This is the time for India to realize its $5 Trillion economy dream and beyond. To stand like a superpower and gain the global supremacy it had during the medieval era.
