No beta, just flying by my seams
After three of his six months having to monitor this small town because of a terrorist villain’s threat, Bakugou had definitely seen all that the outdated streets had to offer. Why would a villain even bother to waste the time threatening a place like this? Now, with just days before getting to return to his home in Musutafu, his views had changed completely. There wasn't anything that he needed any more than your ceaseless, unending love. Or at least your eyes only on him if he can't have that.
As his crimson eyes drilled into your unsuspecting back, he groaned in annoyance. Seriously how dense did you have to fucking be? He's been watching you for weeks now and you STILL haven't even noticed his eyes on you. Sure, you turn every now and then, but it doesn't seem to him that it's out of suspicion with the lax ways your eyes roll over your surroundings.
For the third time today, your eyes lazily strolled over the building where Bakugou was leaning in the shadow of, obscured from you by the sun behind it. You didn't notice him this time - nor any time before either. Seriously, if any other extras were looking at you the way he was, you still wouldn't be the wiser! The thought of any weak fucker in this town thinking they had a chance to pursue you enraged him and made him want to blow up anything within reach.
Who would ever dare think to take what was his? He's the number two hero, and he was going to beat that shitty nerd in first place to his rightful spot. And he was going to have you by his side when he did.
You didn't belong anywhere else after all. None of those weak pieces of shit even have the right to look at you, let alone be with you. In just the two months he's known of you, he's had to take care of more than a handful of stupid 'suitors' who thought they were better than him. Well – it's not that being weak is the reason he hates them... it’s just their attraction to you. Bakugou has been watching you long enough – and when you were ‘alone’ enough – to see you use your quirk a few times. From what his watching you had shown (and some additional help from your small town’s database of powers), you quirk was definitely on the weaker side.
He didn’t blame that on you, hell even some of his old classmates had weaker quirks in comparison to others in UA and they became full-on successful heroes. But really, talking to illustrations? What did characters in a book or doodles on a napkin even have to say? What wasn’t made clear in the town’s records – but what you had so kindly shown him – was that you could also talk to photographs... and they always seemed so eager to talk to you. Which annoyed Bakugou. What were those stupid images saying to you? You were working as a cashier in the store a few blocks from your home and, unlike in Japan, everyone in your town drove to where they had to go – even if it was just down the street. But you didn’t have a car. So you bicycled. Bakugou liked to think that even if you had a car, you would still choose to bicycle more often than not. The look of your legs flexing as you pedaled the short distance to work did something to the angry blond. And annoyingly, so did your indifference to him. He was the residing hero of your town! ‘Who in this stupid podunk town wouldn’t like him?’ He thought to himself, ‘no one, obviously!’ No one but you.
While your initial excitement and the glimmer in your eyes at seeing him for the first time was what brought you to his attention, it was your quickly passing wonder after that that had stuck him to you. It’s not like you knew him personally so why weren’t you at least curious about him or the acts of heroism going around your town? You didn’t look anything up on the internet about him, you didn’t watch the fights on television, you didn’t do anything to draw his or any hero’s actions to your focus. At least you didn’t focus on that shitty number one nerd... that was the only thing that kept his pride from crashing so sea level.
He was real tired of you NOT caring though. It made him on the verge of going feral in the hopes that you would so much as LOOK at him with an ounce of interest in your eyes. Luckily enough... it seemed that was he hoped for just might happen tonight of all nights.
The villain that he was even here for was a self-righteous prick that thought of themselves as a god because they had some stupid environmental quirk. It was something like pulling the water from air or some shit and they went around saying that they’d flood your beachside town. He was obviously going to save your stupid town because it was his fucking job, but that Villain finally decided to live up to their threat tonight of all nights. And Bakugou watched what was happening as the villain approached and debated doing something to stop their approach to you, oblivious, distracted, unsuspecting you.
As much as he knew about you, he knew about the villain “Waterbender” just as much. Waterbender wasn’t going to kill you if he got too close. Most likely just take you as a hostage so the heroes can’t stop him from drowning everyone in your out-of-season tourist town....
But you didn’t have to know that.
Bakugou imagined how you would look at him as he held you in his arms after knocking the shit and teeth out of that water-whatever villain who would without a doubt ACT like he was definitely going to kill you. It sent an excited thrill through his body as he got ready to jump in to action once the villain had you by the arm.
Once he is your hero, you will definitely have to look at Bakugou. And when you do, he can easily find an excuse to see you again... Just to make sure you’re okay, he’d tell you. Not that he actually gave a shit about some civilian extra – of course he would add. No, but he’s just doing his job as a hero and checking up on the hostage. And hell, he’d say he wanted to make sure someone from such a ‘calm’ boring area wasn’t too affected by this attack and exchange numbers and maintain communication for a bit – just in case of something else happening. You were held hostage after all! There may be trauma. You can’t really say no to that, now can you?
He already knows your number, but you don’t know that. You don’t know a lot of what he knows about you. This just gives him a reason to unabashedly message you, get to know you, and maybe... make you need him.
Or who knows... maybe "another villain" attacks while he’s dealing with Waterbender - a secret partner that no one expected - who suddenly kidnapped Waterbender’s hostage when the plan fails…
Who knows what goes through a villain’s head? And of course, Waterbender wouldn’t snitch on his partner’s whereabouts or plans. Of course they'd act like there was no other villain! But then, Bakugou and the authorities would ask, where are you? And Bakugou, the sympathetic hero he is, would stay a month more to look for the missing woman before returning home extra secretly in his private jet.
Life is crazy in the quiet, dead towns... and besides... it’s better to be with someone who can protect you.. Rather than a small, dead town, where anything can happen and no one really thinks twice when a familiar face disappears.
