Portugal. The Man’s new album: SHISH
*7 of the tracks are named after indigenous groups in Alaska (Shish included). PTM are indigenous rights activists to the core and I love the naming of the new album because they’re tribes and locales I’ve never heard of.
Track List:
1. Denali *
2. Pittmann Ralliers
3. Angoon *
4. Knik *
5. Shish *
6. Mush (indigenous word)
7. Tyonek *
8. Kokhanockers *
9. Tanana *
10. Father Gun
IMO, this album is better than the previous Chris Black Changed My Life (though I refrain from speaking too negatively of it because it is a dedication to the band’s deceased friend).
The only song I’m not jamming to is Pittmann Ralliers, but that’s more of a personal preference in that I’m not usually into screamo metal type music.
Regardless, I would definitely recommend if you like PTM’s older stuff. Stylistically it reminds me of American Ghetto, but still unique in its own right.
Every PTM album has a specific sound (God I wish ICBAW was on YouTube music) and this one strays a little further from the mainstream pop/hip hop they’ve been making in the last 2 full albums (CBCML and WOODSTOCK), which makes me super happy. I love their old sound.
SHISH rocks. Very much a classic PTM sound & album.
