kate didn’t have very many friends, that was something she could say fairly easily. sure, it was occasionally embarrassing, but she knew when something was the truth, and that might as well have been a fact. she was grateful for zoe, someone willing to go to small cafes with her and drink tea and who didn’t seem to care if kate spent half of her time at church or doing volunteer work. today though there had been a little nagging voice in the back of her mind keeping her even more quiet than normal, saying that even the people she did have couldn’t possibly be very interested in her. her eyes snapped up, realizing she must have just been sitting in silence for minutes now. “sorry zoe. tea was my idea and i’m being a pretty awful companion aren’t i” she paused, taking a sip of her tea and trying to make things normal again, but she couldn’t seem to find the old atmosphere. kate sighed, looking up at her friend. “i don’t bore you, right?” she asked, hoping it came off as casual as possible
